ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Acoustic Project Strings ensemble was formed in 2016, and it emerged from the already renowned formation of the Acoustic Project ensemble, which has been operating since 2008. It is a collaboration between the composer and double bass player Dubravko Palanović as the originator and leader, and the violinist Marco Graziani as the concertmaster. In addition to the standard repertoire of string orchestras, the ensemble focuses on program and performance innovations, which is accompanied by experimentation with various styles and epochs, as well as the presentation of new works by Croatian and foreign authors. The members of the ensemble are established musicians who, in addition to being creative, also give a strong interpretative energy to the project. In its activities so far, the ensemble has performed at numerous leading music festivals in the country and the region, such as Osor Music Evenings, Samobor Music Autumn, Osijek Summer of Culture, BaRoMus Festival in Rovinj, Summer Events in the City of Krk, Concerts in the Euphrasian Cathedral in Poreč, Zrin Festival, etc. In 2018, they recorded their first CD for the Swedish label Rocred Production, and for the second, realized in collaboration with saxophonist Nikola Fabijanić and released in 2021 by Croatia Records, he earned the Porin Music Award.

Acoustic Project Strings performs in the following line-up: Katarina Kutnar, concertmaster; Alina Gubajdulina, Davide Albanese, Matej Mijalić (1st violins); Marin Maras, Ivo Jukić, Katarina Kocelj (2nd violins); Aleksandar Jakopanec, Marko Otmačić (violas); Petar Kovačić, Oliver Đorđević (cello); Dubravko Palanović (double bass).
