ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Rijeka Piano Trio was founded in 2016 on the initiative of Filip Fak , Krunoslav Marić and Vid Veljak , musicians who received their first musical education in Rijeka, and who, in addition to intensive musical collaboration, are also bound by a long-standing friendship. Although the trio is a young ensemble in its year of establishment, the musicians who make up it have a wealth of experience in chamber music, as well as in solo concerts. The trio held its inaugural concert in October 2016 in Rijeka, in the Italian Community Hall. After that extremely successful concert, the trio went to China on a tour that included seven Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai. In addition to regularly performing in Rijeka, the Rijeka Piano Trio also performs in Zagreb, at the Osor Music Evenings, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and in other Croatian cities. In addition to interpreting works of world musical literature, the Rijeka Piano Trio pays great attention to the work of Croatian composers.

Mezzo-soprano Renata Pokupić is known for her lively and expressive interpretation. Her greatest successes include the roles of Idamante in Mozart's Idomeneo in the Flemish Opera Antwerp production, appearances with the Nash and La Serenissima ensembles at the Wigmore Hall in London, and a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the Royal Albert Hall (alto solo). Her operatic roles include Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Siebel in Faust, and Irene in Tamerlane (Royal Opera Covent Garden, London); the title role in Cinderella (Opéra de Lille), Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Washington National Opera) and Nero in Agrippina, (Antwerp, Lille, Dijon, Beaune). Much in demand as a concert performer, she made her Australian debut as Margarita in The Curse of Faust with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She sang Romeo and Juliet (Berlioz) with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Dvořák's Stabat Mater with the Collegium Vocale Gent and with the German Symphony Orchestra from Berlin.
