A unique combination of tambura, double bass and kaval
Tihomir Hojsak on double bass and Filip Novosel on tambura have been known for years as two top instrumentalists. In addition to being virtuosos, they write their own music based on Croatian tradition and, playing that same music, conquer stages all over the world. In eight years of activity, they have released five albums, collaborated with numerous ensembles, soloists and singers, among which the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the HRT Tambura Orchestra, Gibonni, Vlatko Stefanovski, Miroslav Tadić, Monika Leskovar, Pero Galić, Neno Belan, Elvis Stanić, Božo Vrećo and many others stand out. One of their collaborations was with one of the greatest Bulgarian musicians – Theodosii Spassov . This famous kavalist, vocalist, composer and artist has been awarded numerous awards, including a Grammy for his collaboration with the Sofia Women's Radio Choir. He is also recognized, as stated by Newsweek magazine, as one of the most talented musicians in all of Eastern Europe who "invented a completely new musical genre". Spassov, with his virtuoso playing of the kavala (a Bulgarian type of flute), combines Bulgarian tradition with jazz, with visible influences from classical music, but also from music from other cultures and peoples, just as Hojsak and Novosel skillfully do with their tambura and double bass. Their outdoor performance, in the central square of Osor, will conclude the 51st edition of the festival.
