Il Pomo d'Oro is an internationally acclaimed baroque ensemble founded in 2012, known for its authentic and energetic interpretations of operas and instrumental works from the Baroque and Classical periods. The ensemble collaborates with renowned conductors and soloists such as Joyce Di Donato, Cecilia Bartoli, Max Emanuel Cenčić, Jakub Józef Orliński, Michael Spyres and Giovanni Sollima. The long-standing collaboration with Joyce Di Donato has attracted particular attention, especially in the projects In War and Peace , My Favorite Things and EDEN , which has toured the world and won numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination, and the Gramophone and Opus Klassik awards. Il Pomo d'Oro regularly performs in the most prestigious concert halls and festivals across Europe. Their latest projects include a cycle of Mozart symphonies with Emelyanychev, as well as award-winning albums such as Beyond with JJ Orliński and Al-Bunduqiyya with G. Sollima. The ensemble also leads numerous educational and humanitarian projects, among which the ongoing collaboration with the El Sistema Greece initiative, which provides musical education to children in refugee camps, stands out. The ensemble's name is inspired by Antonio Cesti's 1666 opera Il pomo d'oro , known for one of the most lavish and spectacular productions in the early history of European opera.

Born in Naples in 1986, Raffaele La Ragione began playing the mandolin at a very early age. He later devoted himself to the study of historical plucked instruments and their original repertoire, from early music to contemporary works, to which he dedicated numerous recordings for various record companies (Arcana / Outhere Music, Warner Classics, Brilliant Classics). In 2020, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth, he released the album Beethoven and his Contemporaries , which received critical acclaim worldwide. In 2022, with the Il Pomo d'Oro Orchestra under the direction of Francesco Corti, he recorded the CD Mandolin on Stage . The album is dedicated to the most important 18th-century mandolin concertos, composed between Naples and Vienna, and presented in a new light thanks to the use of a trio of different historical mandolins. The album won several awards and was nominated for the German Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik for the best early music album.
